Vieser expands its product range and launches a new furniture collection in May 2023. The wooden products designed by interior architect Joanna Laajisto are manufactured in Finland.

For years, Vieser has responded to customers’ changing expectations regarding bathrooms by launching design drain products that serves these needs, such as large wooden covers for floor drains, which have been very well received by customers. These next-generation cover solutions combine state-of-the-art reliability with high-end design work.

As a natural continuation of this development, Vieser is now introducing a whole new dimension to its product range, high-quality furnitures designed by interior architect and designer Joanna Laajisto.

Vieser Lauha x Laajisto – A gentle life

The name of the product line, “Lauha”, is Finnish and meaning “mild” refers to the company’s Ostrobothnian roots. In the home region of Vieser, in Kauhajoki, the nice mild weather is called “lauha”. The same, restful atmosphere is repeated in the design language of the new furniture. With the design that resist time comes the assurance that the products will stand use and various conditions. Lauha products are made of Kebony wood suitable for wet rooms. As with Vieser’s Kebony wooden drain covers, considered design and practicality meets in harmony with Lauha products.
“In my design work, I strive for purpose. In order to be born, a product must have a justification – functionally, visually and also in terms of its quality,” says Joanna Laajisto, designer of Lauha products.

Time-resistant and beautiful

The Lauha x Laajisto product collection consists of three designer furniture: a stool with storage space, a towel rack and a wall rack. The products are suitable for bathrooms, but they may as well be part of home décor wherever.

“It is of paramount importance to us that our brand promise, Simply Smart Living, is fulfilled in everything we do. At the heart of the Lauha concept are the same factors as in our company’s basic idea of bringing together ambitious design and uncompromising functionality. Lauha is also a kind of return to our Ostrobothnian roots. I am extremely happy about the great results of this design collaboration and look forward to seeing how they will be received,” says Annika Jyllilä-Vertigans, CEO of Vieser.

Vieser Lauha x Joanna Laajisto collection products:

The products can be seen in a new display designed by interior designer Ulla Koskinen at the Kylpyhuonekeskus in Helsinki. Open on weekdays from 10:00 to 17:00, on Saturdays from 11:00 to 15:00.

As part of the PAREE Group, Vieser is celebrating its fifty-year journey.

First of April 1973 in a small Finnish village of Kauhajoki, the very first part of our company was established. Originally by the name Muovi-Serres, Jyllilä, Säntti Ky. The company’s mission was to solve customer problems with innovative new solutions combining new material and new production technology with -what now seem to be modern start up techniques- fast prototyping and user-inclusive innovation methodology. Soon after the Vieser floor drains were born with a promise to prolong the lifecycle of buildings, replacing cast iron drains that were prone to leak and cause water damage. The product category’s name, Vieser, was derived with an Ostrobothnian twinkle in the eye, from the words “viemäröintituotteita Serrekseltä” – sewerage products from Serres.

Since those days we have grown into a group of companies ranging from drains to hospital technologies. Together we are Paree Group. Today we are celebrating the journey and the future together with all the sister companies and our founders!

“We have an incredible history and a foundation of experience to lean on: 50 years of successful business, across multiple sectors and geographies. We have grown from one local entity to a family of companies, 450 people strong with impact on a global scale – it’s been a tremendous journey and one worth celebrating. Yet, it’s still far more interesting what we will do with the next 50 years, and the next”, Annika Jyllilä-Vertigans, CEO of Vieser and family owner of Paree group.

Vieser offers unique design covers and high-quality floor drain solutions to inspire professional builders as well as interior designers and homeowners. Vieser’s products have been manufactured in Ostrobothnia, Finland since 1973. Vieser’s floor drains are installed in approximately seven million bathrooms and the company has operations in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Estonia.

Teemu Ylänen has joined Vieser R&D team 1st of March as an R&D engineer. Teemu holds a Master’s degree in Engineering, and he is an experienced products designer and material expert. He has a strong background in R&D work in manufacturing industry specializing in stainless steel -, plastic -, rubber products.

Teemu reports to Head of R&D, Innovation and Quality, Vesa Lappalainen, and he is placed in the Espoo office.

Vieser offers unique design lids and high-quality floor drain solutions to inspire professional builders as well as interior designers and homeowners. Vieser’s products have been manufactured in Ostrobothnia, Finland since 1973. Vieser’s floor drains are installed in approximately seven million bathrooms and the company has operations in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Estonia.

Vieser’s design floor drains have been awarded the Design from Finland label. A label about Finnish design means a lot to a company that invests in high quality and responsibility.

“The Design from Finland label indicates that the product or service has been designed in Finland in a professional, responsible and user-oriented manner. Design from Finland companies are headquartered in Finland, and they communicate openly about the structure of their production chain and the country of manufacture.” (Association for Finnish Work).

Vieser is a Finnish family business focusing on the manufacture and sale of floor drains, with roots in Ostrobothnian craftsmanship. The founder of the company, Erkki Jyllilä, launched the operation in 1973, in Kauhajoki, to solve a then very mundane practical problem: How to get the water out of the bathroom safely and in a way that saves costs, as well as with a product that would be of higher quality and easier to install than their cast iron predecessors. The journey began with at that time rare expertise in plastic technology and moulding, and the value proposition was actualized in the original and functionally groundbreaking Vieser HVAC products. Production started in Kauhajoki at that time, and even today, all Vieser’s production still takes place in Finland.

Vieser’s products have gained a strong position in Finland as well as elsewhere in the Nordic and Baltic countries, and they have already been installed in seven million bathrooms. Nowadays, high-quality product design is increasingly seen as an aesthetic that inspires homeowners, but there is always a product that works well on the basis.

Vieser has also previously been awarded the Key Flag Symbol, which indicates that products have been manufactured locally and the company employs people in Finland.

Design is an important part of Vieser’s everyday life. In the beginning, the focus was on shaping the floor drain to perfection. Today, the design of the floor drain cover is part of the interior design of homes. Therefore, it is just perfect that the Design from Finland label has been awarded specifically to Vieser’s design floor drain covers.

“When we took a leap towards the world of design, we also strengthened our expertise. We found partners whose design vision inspired their interior design. The new styles and their design language stand the test of time and the materials have also been chosen responsibly. We worked closely with Saku Sysiö (Aivan Design) and Arni Aromaa and JP Voutilainen (Pentagon Design). It was with them that our design covers were born, which are genuinely and boldly fresh options for the market.”, Vieser’s CEO Annika Jyllilä-Vertigans explains.

Vieser is part of the Finnish Paree Group, the first part of which was founded back in 1973. Paree Group’s turnover is approximately EUR 70 million. The company employs over 450 people.

Nokkala Seaside, a housing co-operative in Matinkylä, Espoo, is about to be finished right by the shopping mall Iso Omena, an underground station, and a beach.

All 77 apartments divided in three staircases of this condominium constructed by Hausia have been sold. During the construction phase, special attention was paid to quality and sustainability. The stylish and easy-care linear floor drains by Vieser were chosen for bathrooms.

Hausia is an Espoo-based operator who builds apartments around the capital region. The objective is to build high-quality homes in a cost-effective fashion that retain and increase in value. Activities are guided by responsibility, innovations, and sustainable development.

– Hausia is the biggest constructor of apartments in Espoo. We focus solely on the production of apartment buildings, states Jyri Kajander, the master-in-chief of the Nokkala seaside worksite.

Cost-Effective Solution

When the most suitable floor drains for the bathrooms at Nokkala Seaside were under consideration, Hausia ended up with two different options for suppliers. Vieser was one of these suppliers.

– We decided to go with Vieser due to their more cost-effective solution, recalls Kajander.

The linear floor drain solution by Vieser is easy-care for the resident. The service interval is very long, and once the time for cleaning arrives, the cleaning method itself is quite effortless and quick – it does not demand any memorization or special competences. The water flows into the floor drain from nearly indiscernible gaps in an efficient and quick manner.

Linear Floor Drain Promotes Style

In addition to being easy-care solutions, these tiled linear floor drains are also stylish. They are nearly undistinguishable from tiled bathroom flooring. This indistinguishability precisely is the reason for the product’s stylish appearance.

– Linear floor drains are stylish. The apartments in this site are quite expensive, and these floor drains add significance to the price of the apartment, remarks Viljar Letlane, master of internal operations at the Nokkala Seaside site.

Cooperation with Vieser has been smooth. Communication has been flowing in both directions, and possible issues have been solved effortlessly in cooperation.

– The information flow has been fast, remarks Letlane in a thankful tone.

– Our desire is to use only high-quality materials. These bathrooms are incredibly stylish, and some of the apartments also include a sauna. In my opinion, these bathrooms are the soul of these apartments, if you don’t mind me saying, describes Kajander.

A gem surrounded by nature

Milla Alftan built her gorgeous second home in the heart of Häme, in southern Finland, surrounded by pristine natural scenery.

Beauty and practical solutions go hand in hand

The interior designer Milla Alftan has designed homes for other people for years. Her second home, situated in a pristine natural landscape in Häme in southern Finland, is a testimony to the skilled professional’s work, with no compromises, even in the smallest details.

The home’s bathroom is light and spacious, a seamless combination of practical solutions and surfaces and forms that reflect luxury. When it came to floor drains, Milla went with Vieser, and the result is simple, yet elegant and beautiful.

Light and full of life

For the shower, Milla chose Vieser’s linear drain cover Vieser Line. This tiled model is an excellent choice when going for a uniform floor surface. Vieser Line merges perfectly with the rest of the interior and allows the stylish giant wall tiles to get the attention they deserve. The vibrant surface of the floor continues seamlessly in the drain cover, creating a consistent look.

Vieser’s linear drain cover is also a safe choice for a second home because its maintenance is hassle-free and it functions reliably. Vieser’s drains typically have long cleaning intervals.

Vieser Flip tiled cover

The bathroom also contains another Vieser innovation – Vieser Flip. Flip is an excellent choice when you need a small cover, but the floor needs to remain uniform. In this bathroom, Flip reflects the same uniform look as the linear drain cover, in keeping with the beautiful brightness of the space.

The genius of Vieser Flip lies in the possibility to flip it around to the elegant stainless-steel cover on the other side. In this instance, the small tiled cover was the ideal choice to add to the uniform look of the entire bathroom floor, also outside the shower space.

Vieser Flip

Beautiful design and reliability

Throughout, the bathroom was created with the perfect balance of practicality and visuals in mind – without compromise. A life without compromise is also one of Vieser’s core objectives. That is why we wish to develop products that make beautiful design part of bathrooms, without compromising on reliability or the ease of daily living when it comes to the easy maintenance of drains.

This breathtakingly gorgeous bathroom is proof that successful design brings luxury to the everyday and creates joy for a long time to come. Also the installation requires no compromises. Vieser Line and Flip are compatible with all Vieser One drains and they can be located anywhere in a bathroom.

Vieser, known for its unique design drain covers and high-quality floor drains, has initiated a collaboration with the Swedish Sluta Riv group on NFC sensor technology to reduce negative environmental impact of the construction industry.

Soon you can order Vieser floor drain cuffs with NFC sensors (Near Field Communication) that makes it possible to detect water leakage at will. The ability to reliably measure under-floor humidity also provides the possibility for partial repairs instead of redoing the bathrooms completely. With these sensors it is possible to measure moisture without destructive sample taking. Sensors are manufactured in Sweden by InviSense that Sluta Riv represents.

“We see the collaboration as a great opportunity to create impact today for a healthier and more sustainable future,” says Annika Jyllilä-Vertigans, CEO of Vieser.

Lower costs and better for the environment

According to Swedish Insurance, the greatest damage in terms of value for households is water damage for which the total amount of damage amounted to just over SEK 3.9 billion in 2021.

According to the Swedish Water Damage Centre’s report, 29% of the damage that occurs in the bathroom floor occurs in proximity of the floor drain.

Vieser wants to make a difference with providing measurability and as well as pushing for the change to save energy, raw materials and ensuring carbon impact.

“Vieser always wants to work smarter, and this feels like a new and sustainable way to develop. Detecting possible damage in good time and getting the chance for partial repair will save millions of kronor for insurance companies, homeowners, and real estate companies,” says Jens Persson, Head of Sales Scandinavia.

“With partial repairs, all parties win. There will be less environmental impact and less emissions due to new materials and it is better for the economy. A partial repair is often at least SEK 100,000 cheaper in a regular bathroom than if you tear down the entire bathroom,” says Niklas Wennström, CEO of Sluta Riv.

Durable and easy to use

Vieser will add sensors developed by Linköping University and tested by RISE to its floor drain membrane for Vieser One, Vieser Line, Vieser DOT and Square. The sensors consist of a moisture-sensitive material that absorbs water molecules and can then be found with a moisture scanner. The sensor has an extremely long shelf life, and they are designed to have at least one bathroom’s lifetime. As long as the sensor has been installed correctly anyone can measure it after reading a short instruction.

For the residents this is the easy, hassle-free solution: No batteries, no electricity or subscription is required. It is possible to measure moisture without destructive sampling. The solution makes it possible to stop guessing and to have peace of mind.

Vieser demonstrates the floor drain with the new sensors at Nordbygg, 26-29 April at Stockholmsmässan. Welcome to visit us at stand A20:40!

Vieser, known for its unique design wells and high-quality floor drains, will participate in the largest construction and real estate meeting in the Nordic region Nordbygg in Stockholm on April 26-29, stand A20:40.

The fair’s theme, sustainable development, is a perfect fit for Vieser, as corporate responsibility and sustainability have been important parts of Vieser’s business since the company was founded in 1973. Vieser’s floor drains were designed to replace their cast iron predecessors and have since prevented water damage, reduced premature renovations, and thus extended the life of the buildings.

“Sustainability is one of our strategic guidelines, and we are strongly committed to the development work. It is important for us to understand the climate impact of our own operations and how we can reduce it in every possible way. ” Annika Jyllilä-Vertigans CEO points out.

At the fair Vieser presents new features in the product range – Vieser One Extra Low which is probably the lowest floor drain on the market and the new additions to the Line well system.

Vieser One Extra low’s structure has a significant advantage in both renovation and new construction. Thanks to the efficient flow of 1.2 l/s, the well is suitable for both shower and bathtub. The water lock in this novelty is based on an innovative membrane technology.

The Vieser Line floor well series has been expanded with new lengths and with a wonderful black lid option. The four different size options provide limitless freedom for designers. Line floor drains can be placed flexibly next to the wall, near the wall or in the middle of the floor or even several wells next to each other. There is no need to compromise on the design.

“Instead of building new ones, people sometimes choose to renovate to save the environment. The new extra low floor drain is ideal for renovations. When combining Vieser Extra low with Vieser Line, you also create a line floor drain solution with a height of only 90 mm with the lid!”, highlights Jens Persson, Sales Manager in Scandinavia.

We hope to see you at A20:40!
